One of the Water Forum’s two co-equal objectives is to “provide a reliable and safe water supply for the region’s economic health and planned development through the year 2030.”
Increased diversions will be needed in the region even with active conservation programs and the recommended sustainable use of groundwater. The Agreement outlines agreed-to diversions for each supplier and the facilities needed to divert, treat and distribute this water. Support for increased diversions and facilities is linked to the suppliers’ endorsement and participation (where appropriate) in each of the seven elements of the Agreement.
Each purveyor has its own water supply needs and opportunities. Stakeholder representatives spent countless hours during negotiations reviewing these needs and opportunities.
